About this site....
Why do we have two sites?
We have this site and our google group. The google group is used as a tool to direct email to everyone subscribed. Previously the google group was used to do some of the content sharing that this site now does - but this site gives us more flexibility.
Ok.. but what's this site for?
It's for sharing.
Some parts of this site are private (only SVWF members have access and need to login to see them). Other parts are public - it's important for us to spread what we are doing with the world, so that we can increase our membership and share our ideas.
private
- calendar/programme - where information about woodcraft events will be posted
- members list - where we can contact each other
- photos - us in action
- library - forms
- website suggestions - no need to make these ideas public
- songs
public
- news of things we've done in the past
- videos (all videos on the site are actually little windows into other sites like you tube - you should not post videos on a public site without getting permission from people appearing in the video first)
- session ideas (ideas for other Woodcraft groups, and our members in the future to use)
- links
- the about us page and this one
guidelines (taken form the woodcraft folk site)
There are a few things to take into account when deciding what to put on your site. The following guidelines were ratified by General Council in 1996, and should be followed by all members creating sites for Woodcraft Folk groups, districts or regions.
- Never include personal details such as names, addresses, e-mail details or telephone numbers without the permission of the owner.
- Think about the photos you use - especially when including identifiable locations. Ask permission from the subject (or the subject's parents) before displaying anyone's picture.
- Do not publish details of exact meeting venues on-line.
- Remember you are operating under the name of the Woodcraft Folk and material should reflect our aims and principles.
- Be a good advert - get the quality and content of your site as good as you can!
Digitally included?
Some members maybe really happy with using internet technology... others might not use it often, or find it difficult. Having this site doesn't mean that we won't include you... Our main communication will still be done during sessions and repeated by email, and if you don't email then we will find a way to get the message through.
My hope is that this website will be a useful resource for those that do use the computers now and in the future (ben:who made the site).
if you feel that there is anything on the site that shouldn't be, or anything not on the site that should be get in touch (if you are a member get in touch with anna).
